ISRO SAC Recruitment 2023: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has released a notification for the recruitment of a Junior Translation Officer and Catering Supervisor.

Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad is one of the lead Centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space (DOS). SAC focuses on the design and development of space-borne instruments for terrestrial and planetary missions of ISRO and the operationalization of space technology for various applications related to national development.

Educational Qualification:

Junior Translation Officer –

Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

OR

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level

AND

Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India undertakings

Catering Supervisor –

Bachelors’ Degree in Hotel Management; or Hotel Management & Catering Technology; or Hospitality & Hotel Administration; or Catering Science & Hotel Management with one year experience.

OR

Diploma in Catering+ 3 years’ experience .

OR

PG Diploma in Hotel Management + 2 years experience

The experience should be in a supervisory capacity in an Industrial Canteen or an established Hotel catering to more than 300 persons. Candidates should be capable of providing top grade canteen services using modern state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. The experience should be after obtaining the relevant qualification.

Ex-servicemen (ESM), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), serving Govt. employees, are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India Orders.

Pay & Level in the Pay Matrix:

The salary amount for the ISRO is, Level06 (Rs. 35,400 – Rs.1,12,400)

In addition, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance are payable as per extant rules on the subject. The employees will be governed by the New Pension System. Further, medical facilities for self and dependents, subsidised canteen, limited quarters facility (in lieu of HRA), Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance, House Building Advance etc. are admissible as per Central Government orders.

Application Fees for ISRO SAC Recruitment:

Initially all candidates have to uniformly pay Rs. 750/- as application fee (excluding applicable taxes/ charges). Candidates belonging to fee-exempted categories, will be refunded full fee. Other candidates will be refunded Rs. 500/- after retaining the application fee of Rs. 250/-.

(SC), (ST), Ex-servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates belong to fee-exempted categories.

Selection Procedure:

What is the selection procedure for the applications of ISRO –in detail below;

The essential qualification prescribed are the MINIMUM requirements and only possession of the same does not make the candidates eligible to be called for Written Test. If required, there will be an initial screening, based on the information furnished in online application and only those screened-in candidates will be called for the Written Test.

Two Level recruitment process- For both the posts: (1) Written Test and (2) Skill Test

For JUNIOR TRANSLATION OFFICER –

WRITTEN TEST –

  • The Written Test will be a pen-paper based examination. The written test consists of Part-A (objective type questions), and Part-B (descriptive type questions) for 100 marks.
  • Objective type questions in Part-A (50 questions) carry one mark each.
  • Descriptive type questions in Part-B consists of (i) two passages for translation carrying 20 marks each; and (ii) expansion of a given thought ( any two out of four thoughts) carrying 5 marks each.
  • written test shall be for a duration of two hours ( 120 minutes).
  • Those who secure minimum 60% marks in the written test shall be declared as qualified in the Written Test.
  • Candidates shall be called in batches for skill test in the ratio 1:5 with a minimum of 10 candidates, as per the evaluation result vs vacancies.

SKILL TEST –

The skill test will be purely on ‘go-no-go’ basis and marks obtained in the skill test will not be considered for final selection. The skill test will be evaluated on a 100-point scale with minimum 60% for qualification

The Skill Test consists of –

  • Two passages for precis writing, carrying 20 marks each, and
  • Two passages for translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, carrying 30 marks each.
  • The skill test shall be for a duration of two hours (120 minutes).
  • Those who secure minimum 60% marks in the skill test shall be declared as qualified.
  • The answer scripts of skill test in respect of candidates who secure minimum 60% marks in WRITTEN TEST PAPER only shall be, evaluated.
  • The final selection shall be done amongst qualified candidates purely based on the scores obtained in the written test. From amongst candidates who qualify in the skill test with minimum 60% marks, empanelment shall be done in the order of marks obtained in the written test.

For Catering Supervisor –

WRITTEN TEST –

  • First, Written Test will be conducted. The Written Test will be a pen-paper based examination. The written test consists of Part-A (objective type questions), and Part-B (descriptive type questions) for 200 marks.
  • The written test consists of:
  • Part-A (objective type questions) for 180 marks

There will be total 90 Questions each carrying 02 marks, based on the following subjects:

  • General English – 10
  • Arithmetic – 10
  • General Knowledge/Current Affairs – 10
  • Curriculum-based questions – 60
  • And, Part-B (descriptive type questions) for 20 marks. Total No. of Questions: 04, each carrying 5 marks
  • Pass Criterion: The candidate has to qualify both part- A and Part – B, separately. The minimum qualifying marks for Part-A is 40% and of Part-B is 40%
  • The written test shall be for a duration of two hours ( 120 minutes).
  • Questions pertaining to Catering and Hotel Management areas covering food production, food services, housekeeping and front office etc., Knowledge about Modern Kitchen equipment, General Knowledge/Current Affairs, General English, Arithmetic (matriculation level). (Written test shall be conducted in such a way that, theoretical and practical knowledge of the candidate is tested covering both breadth and depth of the prescribed curriculum.
  • Based on the written test scores, candidates shall be called for skill test. Candidates shall be called in batches for skill test in the ratio 1:5 with a minimum of 10 candidates, as per the evaluation result vs vacancies.
SKILL TEST –
  • The skill test will be purely on ‘go-no-go’ basis and marks obtained in the skill test will not be considered for final selection. The skill test will be evaluated on a 100-point scale with minimum 60% for qualification
  • From amongst candidates who qualify in the skill test with minimum 60% marks, empanelment will be done in the order of marks obtained in the written test.
  • In case of a tie in the written test scores, the academic scores of the notified qualification shall be the tie-breaker.
