CRCS Sahara Refund Portal: The Central Government has launched the Sahara Refund Portal to help investors whose money is stuck in Sahara India schemes. If your investment has matured, you can register on the portal to get your money back.

The portal is managed by the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS), Ministry of Cooperatives, Government of India. Over 100,000 people have already registered. To apply for a refund, visit www.mocrefund.crcs.gov.in and have your original investment documents ready.

Elaborating on the process to be followed by the depositors, Shah said the first payment of up to ₹10,000 will be made to one crore investors who had deposited ₹10,000 or more.

Who can apply?

The CRCS Sahara Refund Portal allows eligible depositors from four Sahara group societies to apply for refunds: Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd., Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.

Eligibility criteria for filing a claim:

1. Depositors must have outstanding dues receivable before the specified dates.
   • March 22, 2022, for Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata, Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow, and Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal.
   • March 29, 2023, for Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.

2. Register by providing your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and essential details.
3. Verify your email address for future communication.
4. Log in with your Aadhaar number and mobile number.
5. Familiarize yourself with the portal’s instructions.
6. Fill out the online refund request form with accurate information.
7. Upload required documents within specified size limits.
8. Review all information and documents for accuracy.
9. Submit your refund request through the portal.

Refund details:

• The portal aims to disburse a total of Rs 5,000 crore among depositors in its initial phase.
• Each depositor can claim a maximum amount of Rs 10,000 initially.
• Refunds will start with Rs 10,000 as a trial, with the possibility of increased refund amounts in the future based on the trial’s success.
