South Western Railway Recruitment 2023: South Western Railway, Railway Recruitment Cell has released a notification for the recruitment of various posts. The name of the posts are Apprentices.
Centralized notification for engagement of Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 on SWR for the year 2022-23.
ONLINE applications are invited from interested candidates for engagement of Act Apprentices for imparting training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 against 904 slots notified for training in the designated trades at Divisions/Workshops/Units of South Western Railway.

- Fitter
- Welder
- Machinist
- Turner
- Electrician
- Carpenter
- Painter
- Programming and System Administration Assistant (PASAA)
Educational Qualification for South Western Railway Recruitment:
What is the educational qualification for the applications of South Western Railway –in detail below;
The candidate must have passed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks, in aggregate, from recognised Board and also possess National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or Provisional Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training/State Council for Vocational Training (NCVT/SCVT).
Age Limit:

The general candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as of the last date of notification.
The upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates.
For Persons with Disabilities, the upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years.
Application Fees:
Application fees (Non-refundable) – Rs.100/-
The payment will have to be made online through the payment gateway as a part of the online application process.
After ensuring the correctness of the particulars of the application form, candidates are required to pay fees through the payment gateway integrated with the online application. No change/edit will be allowed thereafter.
The payment can be made by using a Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking etc. by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
TRAINING PERIOD & STIPEND:
For all trades, the training period will be 01 year and as per extant rules, directives issued by Railway Board from time to time.
No Hostel accommodation will be provided and selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements for their stay during their training as per Apprentice Act, of 1961 and they will be released upon completion of the training.

AGREEMENT OF TRAINING:
What is the agreement of training for the recruitment of Western Railway -in detail below;
Before commencement of the Apprenticeship training in the designated trade, the selected candidate or if he is a minor then, his guardian has to enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.
Where the Contract of Apprenticeship is terminated through failure on the part of the employer in carrying out the terms and conditions of the contract (as notified under the Apprentices Rules, 1992), candidate will be paid apprentice compensation as prescribed.
In the event of premature termination of Contract of Apprenticeship for failure on the part of apprentice to carry out the terms and conditions of the contract (as notified under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992), the candidate/surety has to pay such amount as is determined by the Apprenticeship Adviser towards the cost of training.

Selection Procedure:
What is the selection process for the recruitment of Western Railway –in detail below;
Engagement will be on the basis of a merit list prepared in respect of all the candidates who apply against the notification.
The merit list will be prepared for the purpose on the basis of the percentage of marks in matriculation with minimum 50% + ITI marks in the trade in which Apprenticeship is to be done (i.e. 50% of aggregate marks, both in matriculation & ITI). The panel will be on the basis of simple average of the percentage of marks in the matriculation and ITI.
For the purpose of calculation of the percentage of matriculation marks obtained by the candidates in all subject will be reckoned and not on the basis of marks of any subject or a group of subjects like best of five etc.
For the purpose of calculation of percentage of ITI marks, marks mentioned in the provisional / final certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT will be reckoned.
